What is left lateral incisor?

The left lateral incisor is a tooth located in the upper or lower jaw on the left side of the mouth. It is the tooth immediately next to the left central incisor and is usually slightly smaller in size. In adults, the left lateral incisor usually erupts between the ages of 7 and 8, and is one of the four front teeth in each jaw. The function of the left lateral incisor is to help cut and tear food, and to support the lips and facial structure. Dental problems that can affect the left lateral incisor include cavities, gum disease, trauma or injury, and abnormal alignment or shape. Treatments for these conditions may include dental fillings, root canal therapy, extractions, or orthodontic treatment. Regular dental check-ups and good oral hygiene practices are key to maintaining the health of the left lateral incisor and other teeth.
